The names of the two men who died in a firey crash Wednesday near Mauston will be released this morning by the Juneau County medical examiner.

The six-vehicle accident happened when a tanker truck driver apparently slammed into two vehicles ahead of it, that had slowed down on I-90. One of those vehicles literally blew up, as thousands of gallons of diesel spilled into the roadway.

A motorcycle, three semis and two SUVs were involved in the accident that happened around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and stopped traffic for nearly 12 hours.

The two killed, according to the Wisconsin Dept. of Transportation were a 64-year-old man from Lyndon Station driving a semi and a 60-year-old man, who was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Officials said four other drivers involved in the crash were not hurt.

The tanker that spilled 7,000 gallons of fuel was not the vehicle that blew up. LA Crosse’s HAZMAT and the Wisconsin DNR were called in for clean up.
