Two people were arrested in La Crosse early Saturday morning, in an investigation that started out as a possible assault.

Police were called to a Bottoms Up bar on the north side just before 2 a.m.

The bartender says the man, Greg Coleman was about to get a shot of vodka, when he passed out, falling off his bar stool and crashing to the ground.

A woman next to the 42-year-old Coleman, got on top of him and started punching him in the face and bashing his head into the ground, yelling wake up.

Coleman denied drinking and said he passed out because he had diabetes.

He was arrested for bail jumping. Police also found cocaine on him after he was booked into jail.

The female left before police arrived, but 33-year-old Karen Carter was later pulled over and arrested for 4th offense OWI.

Police say she tried to pass herself off as the registered owner of the vehicle.
