La Crosse P.D. warns of new scam involving fake traffic tickets

Scams through email are common, but the La Crosse Police Department says there is one making the rounds that is more specific than usual.

An email with the subject line “Notice of Traffic Violation.”

It says you were caught for a traffic violation. It gives the violation, along with the location and says you must pay your fine through a Easypay website.

The department says the links contained in the file more than likely have malicious malware and reminds citizens they don’t use cameras to issue traffic citations.
