Walker visits La Crosse on bus tour just before primary

La Crosse hosted two well-known Republican candidates this weekend for Tuesday’s primary in Wisconsin.

U.S. Senate candidate Leah Vukmir campaigned in the city Saturday, and Gov. Scott Walker stopped by a GOP office in Sunday afternoon.

While Vukmir is in a tight two-person race on the Republican side, Walker has token opposition in his party primary, against Robert Meyer. The governor told La Crosse reporters his real opponents are liberals.

“They’ve already said it publically,” Walker said. “Barack Obama’s group. Eric Holder’s group. Billionaires Tom Steyer and George Soro. The national big government union bosses and even the HCLU and others, have said they’re targeting the state of Wisconsin.

“It’s less about who is on the ballot and more about, ultimately, about the tens of millions of dollars they’re likely spending against us.”

Walker claims all eight active Democratic candidates for governor are supporting economic policies that haven’t worked. Walker also said it doesn’t matter who wins out of those eight, because he says they would all take the state “backward.”

“No matter who wins on Tuesday night, each of the candidates running overwhelmingly embraces policies that are similar to what got the state in trouble years ago,” Walker claimed.

The governor’s visit to La Crosse was part of a five-day swing through 21 Wisconsin cities.
