Hundreds lined up at Back 2 School drive

Over 1,000 kids went through the La Crosse Center on Wednesday picking up much needed school supplies to kick off the year on the right track.

The annual Back 2 School drive through Salvation Army of La Crosse and Catholic Charities also offered a first day outfit and a haircut.

“We’re seeing 40-50 families and individuals come through our doors needing assitance with basic human needs,” Karen Becker with Catholic Charities said. “But there are even more families out there who are living paycheck to paycheck.”

Catholic Charities invites anyone who didn’t get signed up for the event to go to its office on East Avenue South in La Crosse where they will try and get children what they need for school.
