One La Crosse organization is appealing directly to airline travelers to help preserve the area’s natural beauty.

The Mississippi Valley Conservancy has placed a donation box near the TSA screening area at the La Crosse Regional Airport with the idea that flyers can leave spare change in the box instead of reclaiming it after being screened.

Conservancy director Carol Abrahamzon heard about such boxes being used at other airports and wanted to try the idea here.

“People flying in and out of La Crosse, really get to enjoy some breathtaking views and perhaps they want to be a part of conserving those views,” she said.
