A shortage of parking for now between the La Crosse County courthouse and the county’s health building.

The parking lot at 6th and Vine is being replaced over the next month.

Before a new surface is put in, a stormwater processing system will be installed underneath.

Jim Speropulos from the county facilities office said the parking lot replacement is the last part of a master reconstruction plan for La Crosse County facilities downtown.

The price tag is about $260,000. Speropulos said just resurfacing the lot would have cost around $195,000.

The lot was first installed in 1990 when the health building replaced the old Sawyer Auditorium.

Speropulos added that the only change people should notice in the repaved lot is a new surface.

Construction should be done in about four weeks.
