Bliss road avoids significant damage during week’s heavy rains

So far, so good for one of La Crosse’s most problematic streets.

City superintendent of streets, Mike La Fleur tells us heavy rains this week did not appear to have had a substantial impact on Bliss Road, the roads that winds up through Hixon Forest to the top of Grandad Bluff.

La Fleur says crews have monitored the road since Tuesday and everything’s intact.

They’re crossing fingers with more rain expected through the weekend.

In past years, Bliss Road has closed for months at a time after rain washouts.

After a storm last year, the road stayed open even while the hill beneath it collapsed onto the Forest Hills golf course below.
