The Fight the Flood benefit concert Thursday hit its $150,000 goal and then some.

While Heatbox and Reed Grimm played the final act of the 12-hour concert at the southside festgrounds, they put out a challenge, not go hit that $150,000 mark, but to hit $200,000.

The Great River Folk Festival posted the videosaying, “Just challenged us to hit 200k  they don’t know we’re at ($196,500).”

There were 24 musical acts at the glorified Moon Tunes finale concert aimed to raise money for flood victims in the area.

“I can’t believe this concert is an entire season of Moon Tunes on one special day,” said Andy Hughes of the band Tugg. It was Hughes who initially had the idea to do a benefit concert.

The Local Rotary Clubs will distribute the proceeds to flood victims throughout the region.

“We don’t know how far the dollars are going to go but we’ll stretch them as far as possible,” La Crosse Rotarian Bill Hoel said on Wednesday.
