Matching grants available to improve home efficiency in La Crosse
Make your house warmer this winter and get paid. That’s the idea behind a plan in La Crosse’s city hall.
Mayor Tim Kabat is launching his so-called Home Energy Challenge. It’s a matching grant program that will help homeowners pay for new insulation, heating or some other improvements that can make homes more efficient.
The grants are available up to $4,100 depending on income levels.
The program is in coordination with Xcel Energy and Focus on Energy, and is available to the first 100 who apply.
Both homeowners and landlords are eligible for the grants.
More information will be available on the city’s website when Kabat officially launches the program at a south side home on Monday.
