Parents of Holmen students to get crash course on school safety policy
At 6 p.m. tonight, a forum on school safety issues is being held tonight at the Holmen High School.
It’s important to have the conversation says Holmen district administrator Kristin Mueller.
“There’s just so much attention nationally and locally around school safety and we’d like to provide that opportunity to share info, national data and about our school district,” Mueller said.
She added that they’d like to explain to parents what information they can share, and what is unavailable to share because of privacy laws.
Late last year, a parent in the Holmen School District came to the school board with concerns about a student, who had threatened his daughters, that might be allowed back into school.
He criticized the district for its lack of communication.
Mueller says that’s a point of emphasis during tonight’s forum.
“The big one now is communication,” she said. “With a lot of the legislation that’s been passing through, how we can communicate and what we can communicate has really changed. To be able to share that and have conversation around that is very important.”
If you can’t attend Mueller says the meeting will be video taped and put on the district website, and based on questions, an information page will be put together.
