UW-La Crosse tops previous mark for enrollment

Not only has the freshmen class set an enrollment record at UW-La Crosse, the college as a whole now has broken its top mark.
Fall enrollment is 10,569 — 11 more than the 2014 total. The college also welcomed back more sophomores, with an 86 percent retention rate — up from 83 percent last year.

UW-L Chancellor Joe Gow says ongoing construction at the school is doing its part to entice students to come there.

“Three much needed facilities on our campus are in the budget request — second phase on new science building, field house that our students voted on some years ago and then a new residence hall,” Gow noted.

But, it’s not just a lot of students coming in. There are also plenty leaving with diplomas.

UW-L is tops in graduation rate for any of the 11 comprehensive universities in the UW-System.
