Slip prices likely to jump at municipal boat harbor for 2019
High demand for slips in the newly refurbished La Crosse municipal boat harbor likely means a full harbor next year, too — even with an expected boost in slip rental pricing.
The La Crosse park board, Thursday, considers a new harbor agreement that includes a schedule of slip pricing with a 5-percent boost across the board for 2019.
The cheapest slip will go from $650 to $682.50.
The most expensive and largest of the slips will jump more than $100 to $2,205.00 for the season.
Harbor manager Gary Thurk said this week the harbor is full with 49 boat owners on a waiting list trying to get in.
This, even while the harbor lacks toilets, showers, gas, a restaurant or even ice.
Thurk also said the city considers the refurbished harbor mostly complete.
A toilet and shower facility is expected to be complete by next boating season.
Thurk said the city is open to proposals from private business to add a gas dock, store and restaurant.
