La Crosse County votes to extend flood relief grant
The request for area flood relief is on the way to Madison.
La Crosse County board members have voted to seek an extension of a block grant for flood relief that the county received last year.
Only a small amount of the $2.2 million regional grant issued after flooding in July of 2017 has actually been spent — mostly on repairing flood damage in Arcadia, Wis.
La Crosse County wants to spend the remaining money to fix damages from recent flooding in Vernon, Crawford, and Monroe counties but it needs state permission to expand how the money can be used. Otherwise, the money will have to be given back to HUD.
