FEMA headed to La Crosse today
FEMA is expected to arrive in La Crosse County today to evaluate information about recent flood damage around the county.
Emergency management coordinator Keith Butler said FEMA will decide whether it needs to personally inspect buildings or roads, before making funding recommendations.
“I have about four homes that I believe will qualify at the major level, and two businesses, possibly a third,” Butler said.
FEMA already visited parts of Vernon County and could also tour Monroe County disaster areas before the week is over.
Butler added that the heaviest damage in the county was in the Highway 35 area south of La Crosse and in the towns of Greenfield and Washington.
