Anti-flood project in La Crosse gets federal funding
The city of La Crosse is starting to get flood relief money from the feds, with a $3.6 million grant just approved by the Commerce Department.
That funding is aimed at fixing stormwater lift stations on La Crosse’s north side.
According to Congressman Ron Kind, the stormwater system is outdated and offers insufficient flood protection for north side property.
Renovation of the lift stations could create 70 new jobs in the city, attract $10 million in private investment and help stimulate more development in the north side flood plain area.
