Onalaska man’s handgun goes off accidentally, leads to criminal charges
The shot went off around 7 p.m. Friday from an apartment building on Seventh Street in La Crosse.
Tyler Fosbinder was showing his Hi-Point .45-caliber to some friends when it slipped from his hand. The gun went off when he caught it.
The bullet went through a man’s wrist then continued into another man’s thigh.
The two were brought to the hospital by Fosbinder, who then drove off, apparently to Grandad Bluff to smoke marijuana.
When the 19-year-0ld returned to his apartment, he found police searching the parking lot. Before being taken into custody, police found $1,295 in a rolled up bundle and another $50 in his wallet.
Fosbinder denied knowledge of the shooting several times before finally admitting it at the police station. He was charged with second-degree recklessly endangering safety and possession of drug paraphernalia.
