A special homecoming week at La Crosse Central High School this year.

For the first time since 2008, the Red Raiders will be playing their home game on campus at Coach D Field.

“Because it’s our homecoming game, we’re trying to make it special,” athletic director Joe Beran said of the game that will be broadcast on WIZM 92.3 FM / 1410 AM.

Since 2010, Central has played its games at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Along with the game, there will also be a live concert beginning at 4:15 p.m. Kickoff for the game against Tomah has been moved up to 6 p.m. due to the threat of storms.

As for future plans to have a home field again, Beran said they are very early in the planning process.

“We have drawings and ideas for stuff on the table,” Beran said. “The first step would be to get some turf down there.”

I also act as the voice of local sports, doing play by play of high school and college football and basketball. When not working I enjoy golfing.
