A month out from an operational referendum in the Onalaska School District, an informational session will be held tomorrow morning at the District Office on 2nd Avenue South.

The event will run from 9 to 10AM.

The district is asking for a five year extension on the referendum which would generate 3.35 million dollars per year.

Superintendent Fran Finco says surveys they’ve done have seen support for it.

Finco says, “Almost 60% of the people who didn’t have kids in school said they would support the question. That was one of the indicators for why the board decided to go to referendum.”

Finco says the mill rate will still be lower than what taxpayers are currently charged.
