Monroe County gets ready to welcome state Supreme Court
SPARTA, Wis. — The U.S. Supreme Court has dominated much of the news over the last month but Friday, the Wisconsin Supreme Court will be in the spotlight in Sparta.
The high court goes to Monroe County for its latest ‘Justice on Wheels’ program, bringing its business to courthouses around the state.
Helping make arrangements for the event is Circuit Judge Todd Ziegler, who hopes that spectators will learn more about how the high court works.
“I’m sure there are some misconceptions,” Ziegler said, “and I think this will be a great opportunity for people to see first hand what happens without having to go to Madison.”
The justices will hear arguments in three legal cases, where they are expected to issue rulings in the coming months.
Several area students will attend the court session as part of an educational field trip.
