La Crosse county inmate faces charges for attacking, injuring jailers

A La Crosse county prisoner faces new charges after attacking two guards in the jail.

The guards were injured on Thursday when they were apparently attacked by 25 year-old Audie Benford Murphy while conducting a routine cell inspection.

Both the guards and Benford Murphy were injured and treated at local hospitals.

Benford Murphy faces a couple of felonies for the attacks.

He’s been in jail since May when he was charged, along with three others, for dealing marijuana out of a home on Ferry Street.
