Essay winner speaks before state Supreme Court on its annual road trip
Lawyers know that the law can be confusing to the average American.
That’s one major reason the Wisconsin Supreme Court travels the state in its ‘Justice on Wheels’ program.
The court spent Friday in Sparta, where it heard three cases up for appeal.
Before each case local attorneys were asked to talk about the amount of work lawyers go through to prepare for an appeal.
Students from Monroe County schools made up a large part of the audiences.
One fifth grader from Sparta, Gus Tripp, won an essay contest for the chance to speak before the high court on how he would amend the constitution.
As for watching the Supreme Court in action, Tripp said, “It was kind of confusing but it was fun to see. Now I know how they do it.”
Tripp’s winning essay focused on letting 10-year-olds get jobs to earn money.
