PRESS RELEASE: Man with handgun shot by police in Strum

STRUM, Wis. Authorities say a man was shot by police in Strum, after officers responded to a report that he had a gun.

Around 8:20 p.m. police fired at an armed man who was pulled over during a traffic stop in Strum. The man had a handgun.

The man had a handgun and officers “responded to the actions” of the man and fired multiple shots, according to a Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office release.

The man was airlifted, first, to an Eau Claire hospital but then transferred to Rochester, Minn. His condition is not known.

Police from Strum, Osseo and Eleva were on the scene. No other information has been released.
