WTC unveils new wellness center after renovation
Everything was free yesterday at the Wellness Center at the Western Technical College.
It was the official grand opening and ribbon cutting to celebrate the renovation that took all summer, though it has been open for a few weeks now.
It’s gotten a facelift, including new floors, paint and equipment.
Wellness Center manager Ryan Monroe says he hopes this will allow him to help more people.
“Being able to work with a professional staff on their health and wellness goals is what we’re really trying to work towards,” Monroe said. “What research has shown us is the impact that health and wellness can have on the academic success of our students and their opportunity to learn.”
Monroe says they can see a difference.
“That’s the ultimate goal, to get people into the facility and ustlinzing it,” Monroe said. “So far, in comparison to last year, we have seen a tremendous increase in the utilization of the facility.”
The Wellness Center is open to just about anyone — from students to alumni to community members. Cost range from $27-$38 a month with large discounts for yearly memberships (between $225-$350), and for spouse joint memberships.
