La Crosse County budget hearing tonight could address last week’s road-funding referendums
La Crosse County supervisors will meet tonight and Tuesday morning, if necessary, to pass a county budget for 2019.
It’s a spending plan a little smaller than for this year but still above $150 million. The county tax levy could rise by almost 2 percent.
County administrator Steve O’Malley said the public hearing and general discussion by the board could include talk of future highway funding, because of referendums that were on last week’s ballot.
“I think that’s what’s going to be on the agenda is how does the board proceed from here on the information they received from the public on the referendum questions,” O’Malley said.
The public comments will start at 6 p.m. and board leaders hope to get to a final budget vote tonight.
