Docken sentenced to jail time for stealing officer’s gun and trading it for drugs

When a Dunn County sheriff’s officer visited a car wash in La Crosse this summer, he took his backpack out of his car…and a thief stole the bag.
The service gun belonging to Sergeant Todd Kurtzhals was inside the bag, and that gun was traded for drugs.
Mathew Docken of Onalaska is sentenced to jail time for taking the gun.
At sentencting on Tuesday, Docken heard from Kurtzhals, who revealed that his stolen weapon was recovered from what he called a “major” drug house in Milwaukee.
Docken is sentenced to 9 months in the county jail, and could face prison time if he doesn’t find a way to kick his drug habit.
