Science center priced at $82 million being dedicated at UWL

It’s said to be the most expensive single building on campus in the history of UW-La Crosse.

The new Prairie Springs Science Center is being dedicated today.

Built as a replacement for the Cowley Hall science building, which opened in the 60’s, the new science center cost $82 million.

The building includes up-to-date microscope equipment, and new labs for aquatic studies and anatomy.

The dedication ceremony at the UW-L student union next door will be followed by tours of the science center.

Prairie Springs opened for classes at the start of the fall semester.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
