Tax rate to drop for La Crosse city taxpayers in 2019
Another tax rate decrease next year for La Crosse property taxpayers.
The city council has agreed on an operating budget that drops the tax rate in the city from $12.08 to $12.04 per $1,000 in property value.
It marks the second city property tax rate drop in as many years.
The decrease will save the owner of a median value home about $5 for 2019.
The decrease is significantly less than what Mayor Tim Kabat had originally proposed two months ago which would have saved the owner of a median value home $22.
The budget increases spending in the city for next year by about $900 thousand and includes across-the-board raises for city employees.
