Aric Elmore, during a La Crosse County court appearance today
A repeat drug offender in La Crosse County who was busted again this month while on probation still needs to post $50,000 in cash to get out of jail.
Aric Elmore has been turned down for a bond reduction, two weeks after his latest arrest on charges of dealing drugs from his home.
Public defender Rachel Krueger, representing Elmore for today’s court hearing, asked Judge Scott Horne to lower Elmore’s $50,000 bond, calling the current bond “incredibly high,” and more than what prosecutors asked for.
Krueger says the Department of Corrections is considering letting Elmore participate in the county drug court sanctions program.
Horne says that’s “not a justification” to lower the cash bond.

So far, Elmore is charged with just one new count, of conspiring to deliver heroin.

He’s being given another two weeks to find a lawyer who does not have a conflict of interest with other suspects in the case.
