Central’s football’s Hayden named 2nd team all-state

Central High School senior David Hayden was named second team all-state Monday.

The 6-foot, 170-pound defensive back, who led the state with eight interceptions, was the only area player on the Associated Press first or second team.

Hayden, who had 21 solo tackles and 47 assists, helped the Red Raiders finish 8-3 on the season.

These five area players were named honorable mention:

  • Central junior QB Johnny Davis
  • Holmen senior TE/DE Tate Grass
  • West Salem senior RB/LB Brendan Holt
  • Westby senior RB/LB Ryan Daines
  • Bangor junior RB/LB Carter Horstman
