Life in prison for father of Iowa baby found dead in swing
A northeast Iowa man will get life in prison for first-degree murder, in the death of his infant son.
Zachary Koehn will not be eligible for parole.
Koehn was sentenced Tuesday in New Hampton, Iowa, after being convicted by a jury for causing the death of Sterling Koehn, his 4-month-old son.
The baby’s body was found last year in a swing, inside a dark bedroom at an apartment in Alta Vista.
An autopsy showed the child had died from various causes, including malnutrition and an infection from being left in a maggot-infested diaper.
The baby’s mother, Cheyanne Harris, is scheduled to be tried in Iowa next month.
