Leaf pickup resumes in La Crosse
La Crosse leaf pickup crews are taking another stab at collection even with piles of snow on the boulevards.
Crews struggled, again, this fall to collect all the leaf piles before snows began to fall. It resulted in countless complaints to city hall and to city council members, alike.
Relatively mild winter weather this week pushed crews back out on the streets with their big vacuums.
While crews were supposed to start leaf pickup Monday, city workers finally got out Thursday, picking up where they left off in the city before plows had to go on the trucks.
Unfortunately, snow mixed with leaves made it tough sledding as the machines continually clogged. Relatively warm weather ahead, however, means the pickup efforts will continue into next week.
