Anonymous tip app soon available for La Crosse students

A new cell phone app should soon help students, possibly fearing for their safety.

The P3 Campus app allows students report threats, anonymously.

Scott Johnson, safety director with the La Crosse School District, said it will help students who don’t want to feel like they ‘ratted out’ their classmates, while still letting the district handle the problem.

“If they’re afraid to say anything to administrator … they can go onto this app to report the tip … and it automatically goes to the call center with the county,” he said.

Johnson added the app allows students to categorize what they’re reporting for things like threats of harm, bullying, cheating.

If the tip speaks of imminent danger it will be forwarded to police. If not, it will be handled by the school.
