Don’t come back to La Crosse, unless you have to.

That’s one of the conditions imposed on an Illinois man who’s been released from the La Crosse County jail, and is waiting to be tried for fleeing from city police.

Jerry Smith, Jr., of Chicago, also known as Jerry Berry, has been told to stay in Illinois and not return to La Crosse, except for scheduled court hearings.

La Crosse police attempted to arrest Smith at a Walgreen’s for allegedly trying to get drugs with a forged prescription.

Smith drove off, and hit parked cars and a house during a police chase.

He’s also accused of endangering two passengers in his car.

What about making restitution for the damages he caused. Why should innocent people have to pay for his actions?
