Reminder of April deadline for sexual abuse claims in Winona diocese

In one area Catholic diocese, people who have made sexual abuse accusations against church employees are being reminded that a filing deadline exists. 

Application forms issued by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court say the claims must be received by the clerk of court on or before April 8th. 

The Diocese of Winona and Rochester announced last month that it would file for bankruptcy, to help the diocese handle multiple claims of sexual abuse against priests and others. 

More than 100 claims have been filed against the Winona Diocese. 

Any claims received after that date will be considered ‘tardy.’
