La Crosse Center Board prefers west addition
In a choice between north and west, the La Crosse Center still says west is best.
Members of the center board are asking City Hall to endorse an addition to the west side of the 38-year-old building.
Center Board chairman Brent Smith said the renovation plan is still just a concept, and not a complete design.
A more costly proposal for a west addition was vetoed by the mayor this summer because it both was going to overtake part of Riverside Park and cost around $48 million.
The cap for the new expansion is now $42 million.
The new concept will be brought to a city council committee on Thursday night.
If the council supports the west-side plan, the concept would go back to the center board to have more detailed designs made.
