Some good things happened in 2018

Here we are already. The final day of 2018. What a year it was. As we reflect on the past year, it can be easy to remember the bad things. And there were plenty of those. Wildfires, hurricanes, more school shootings. But plenty of good things happened in the last twelve months, and sometimes its good to take note of those. Like the 12 boys stuck in a cave in Thailand who were all rescued safely. The health of our economy was a positive story nationally and locally. In the final days of the year we learn that La Crosse is celebrating a record low unemployment rate. That is a good thing. It was good to see record turnout in the November election, especially all the young people getting involved. A basketball loving 99 year old nun got to see her beloved Loyola team reach the final four. Sister Jean even got her own ring. That was a fun story to follow. Yes, there was plenty of heartache and tragedy in 2018. Sometimes that seems to get worse every year. But as we close out this year, it can be worth remembering just a few of the good things that happened. And hope for a lot more good things in 2019! Happy New Year to you and your families.
