Ferris continues raising money for Hmong vet statues
Not even a bout with cancer is stopping a local veteran from raising money for statues planned at Veterans Freedom Park in La Crosse.
Louie Ferris underwent weeks of treatment for cancer late last year.
But the Korean War veterans is back at work, promoting plans for new statues honoring Hmong and Lao soldiers which would cost about $40,000.
To donate, checks can be mailed to Louie Ferris at 1519 George St., La Crosse, WI, 54603. With questions, call Ferris at 608.784.9576. Donations can also be made to River Bank on the north side.
Ferris wants the Hmong and Lao statues to be in the park by this coming July.
Last summer, Ferris unveiled a statue at the freedom park to honor female nurse cadets from World War II.
