DULUTH, Minn. — The Duluth officer shot and wounded in a fatal domestic assault standoff has been released from the hospital.

Officer Aaron Haller was treated at the hospital and released after he was hit by gunfire that killed his K-9 partner, Haas.

Around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, police were called to a West Skyline Parkway home, where a standoff ensued.

After an hour of negotiations, the suspect began shooting at police, hitting officer Haller and Haas. At least one officer returned fire.

Once police got into the home, they found the suspect dead.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating.

Below is a post about Haas on the Northland Law Enforcement K-9 Foundation’s Facebook.

According to the Big Lake Police Department, six police officers have lost their lives in the line of duty in the U.S. in 2019 — a 50 percent increase over 2018 at this time.
