Bandshell benefit happens at Cavalier this week

A big push to raise money for bandstand improvements and a new Riverside Park bandshell happens this weekend in La Crosse.

A two-night fundraising concert is scheduled Friday and Saturday at the Cavalier Theater, downtown (event page).

“Moon Tunes” organizer Terry Bauer said audience members can come and go, thanks to some matching donations already made, so there will be no cover charge.

However, donations of all sizes will be welcomed.

Sixteen bands will perform to help collect funds for the Riverside project.

Bauer says “pavers” — engraved bricks bought by donors — will raise more money, if the bandshell concept is approved this week by the La Crosse park board.

The historic bandstand is being rebuilt and a large canopy is planned over the stage area.
