A La Crosse drug suspect could have gotten 65 years in prison, for charges of carrying meth and heroin.

But both sides in the federal court case of Eddy Arca agree that five years behind bars is appropriate.

The 30-year-old Arca received a prison term yesterday from a federal judge in Madison.

Last March, police in La Crosse found Arca carrying 177 grams of meth and 43 grams of heroin after he tried to run from a police car in a north-side neighborhood.

A citizen helped an officer tackle Arca during the foot chase.

Arca was already on probation for another drug case when the meth arrest occurred.
