Giant sports Saturday for Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin men’s basketball team takes on the defacto No. 1 team in the nation, Michigan (17-0).

The Wolverines are technically No. 2 but Duke lost earlier this week. The Badgers have lost four of five. That game is at 11 a.m.

In La Crosse, the Midwest Players Classic at the La Crosse Center kicks off at 9:15 a.m. and features eight games.

The first game will be the defending state champion Aquinas High School girls basketball team putting its 43-game win streak on the line. The Blugolds are the No. 1 ranked team in Division 4 at 15-0.

At 3:30 p.m., featured on WKTY 96.7 FM / 580 AM will be No. 2-ranked Central (11-1) against the defending Minnesota Class 2A champions, Minnehaha Academy (10-2).

Minnehaha has a 6-foot-4 guard named Jalen Suggs who’s being recruited by top Division I schools in the nation for both football and basketball. Schools like Ohio State, Iowa, Minnesota, Iowa State, Baylor and Nebraska.

Other teams at the Players Classic include Caledonia, Onalaska and the Aquinas boys. Read more about it here.

After the Central game on WKTY, the Milwaukee Bucks play at Orlando. Milwaukee has the best record in the NBA at 32-12. The game tips at 6 p.m.

And, if that wasn’t all, the UW-La Crosse men’s and women’s basketball programs play nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh.

Now, the UW-L women are ranked 23rd in the DIII with a 15-1 record. UW-O, however, is ranked 12th and is 14-2. That game’s at 3 p.m. in Mitchell Hall.

On the men’s side, UW-La Crosse just took down both No. 14 UW-Whitewater and ninth-ranked UW-Stevens Point in its last two games.

Now, the Eagles (12-4, 5-0 WIAC) take on fifth-ranked Oshkosh (15-1, 5-0), which they hope to slay on the road and take the top spot in conference for themselves.
