Remodeling plans for two La Crosse public libraries should move ahead soon, now that the library board has informally chosen an architect for the projects.

Board members made a choice last week, after interviewing reps with four different companies from Wisconsin and Minnesota.

The name of the company selected will be released at a later date.

Kelly Krieg-Sigman, the La Crosse library director, said the competing firms were not asked to bring in concepts for renovating the buildings.

Renovation proposals could be ready in a few months.

The south branch library is expected to make room for the south-side senior center, now on Denton Street.

At the Main Street library, the staff wants to reuse the space formerly occupied by the county historical society.
