Minnesota apple group may stop having meetings in La Crosse

A group of Minnesota food producers could move its yearly convention…to Minnesota. 

Earlier this month, the Minnesota Apple Growers Association, based in La Crescent, held its annual trade show on the Wisconsin side of the river, at the La Crosse Center. 

The apple growers have been meeting in La Crosse for many years, but maybe not for much longer. 

Civic center manager Art Fahey told the Center Board that organizers with the Minnesota Apple Growers Association are talking about finding a Minnesota location for their convention, because ‘Minnesota’ is in the group’s name. 

The conference has also attracted apple farmers from Wisconsin and Iowa.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
