What is a man from Boynton Beach, Fla., doing in Wisconsin during one of the coldest weeks of the winter?

For now, he’s staying warm in the La Crosse County jail, on a probation violation and an arrest warrant.

Stevan Richter was booked in the jail Wednesday on an out-of-state warrant and could appear in court today.

Richter was living in La Crosse nine years ago, when he was 19.

He was one of several young men arrested in January of 2010, after a drug-related shooting at a mobile home in Shelby.

Richter was convicted of reckless endangerment for that gunfire incident, while an attempted armed robbery charge was dismissed.

A prison sentence was stayed, and Richter was placed on probation.
