February will be a short month but a busy one for the La Crosse Center Board.

The board members plan to meet every Tuesday of the month to work out a schematic plan for the $42 million renovation to be presented to the city council.

Center director Art Fahey wants the latest plan for a west-side expansion of the building to go before council committees in March, so there can be final approval in April.

This week, Fahey appeared before the La Crosse Board of Public Works to ask for equipment replacements over the next five years.

The current system has not been replaced since the center opened in 1980.

Fahey also mentioned the arena scoreboard and basketball hoops date back that long, as well.
