Center board reviews interior ideas, sets March goal for finished plan
Carpeting and wallpaper designs were on the table Tuesday, as the La Crosse Center Board set out to make detailed decisions about how the 39-year-old building should be renovated.
The board has set weekly meetings this month to work out a plan capped at $42 million for improving the civic center.
Designers want the board to decide what kind of look will “tell the story” of what the La Crosse Center is about.
The board set a goal of trying to keep maintenance costs for the arena portion of the building around $6 million or less.
Center director Art Fahey said one area that needs improvement is the dressing rooms, where the roof leaks and the showers are “shot.”
The dressing area is used frequently by sports teams competing at the center.
