Moustakas back to Brewers “seems inevitable”

Looks like the Milwaukee Brewers could get third third baseman back.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported that free-agent Mike Moustakas return to the Brewers “seems inevitable.”

Along with news Milwaukee signed 34-year-old pitcher Josh Tomlin, Rosenthal added that Moustakas chances of a reunion increase the longer free agents Manny Machado and, to a lesser degree, Bryce Harper linger on the market. Moustakas appears to be third in the pecking order.

The Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres are both interest in the 30-year-old Moustakas but also appear to be chasing Harper and Machado, according to reports.

Rosenthal also believes the Brewers only want Moustakas on a one-year deal, moving, again, Travis Shaw to second base this upcoming season before he goes back to third base when top prospect Keston Hiura is ready for the majors.

Moustakas had 28 home runs and 95 RBI in stints with Kansas City and Milwaukee last season.
