Vinehout home destroyed in weekend fire

Former western Wisconsin legislator Kathleen Vinehout lost her home in a weekend fire. 

s home near Alma burned to the ground early Saturday. 

No one was injured in Alma, Wis., fire but she said the house was considered a total loss. 

“They are safe but have lost everything,” was posted on Vinehout’s Facebook page.

The cause of the fire has not been determined yet. 

Vinehout served three terms as state senator for the 31st District, north of La Crosse. 

She chose to run for governor last year instead of seeking a fourth term, and finished fourth in the Democratic primary behind Tony Evers.  

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
