A 25-year-old mother from Winona is blaming post-partum depression for her attempts to make her baby boy sick in a hospital.

Megan Kafer is pleading guilty in a St. Paul court to child endangerment.

Kafer was charged late last year, after Children’s Hospital of St. Paul caught her on a secret camera, reportedly injecting laxative in the child’s feeding tube.

Doctors had suspected that Kafer was doing something to the baby, to prevent him from gaining weight.

Investigators say Kafer had searched the internet for ways to make a child sick, and she claimed she just wanted the hospital staff to pay more attention to the baby.
